An Indiana tax power of attorney form permits residents to hire a third party to file taxes to the Department of Revenue on their behalf. Otherwise known as the “POA – 1” form, the document is recommended to be forwarded to a certified public accountant or tax attorney who has some knowledge of the tax system in Indiana.

Laws

  • Statute – Title 30, Article 5 (Powers of Attorney)
  • Signing Requirements – A tax power of attorney requires the taxpayer’s signature. If an attorney-in-fact signs on the taxpayer’s behalf, a notary acknowledgment may be required as well.
