A Massachusetts real estate power of attorney enables an individual to appoint a representative to act on their behalf and handle decisions relating to real estate transactions. The person receiving the decision-making capabilities (the “agent”) will have approval from the property owner (the “principal”) to execute any task deemed permissible in the power of attorney. While the agent’s responsibilities will vary, they are typically authorized to manage leases, make repairs, purchase and sell property, hire contractors for renovations, and pay bills (e.g., property tax, mortgage, utilities).
