The Indiana vehicle/boat power of attorney form (Form 1940) allows an individual to designate another party to handle a vehicle sale on their behalf. All proceeds and negotiations must be to the benefit of the seller (principal) and must be signed in front of a notary public to be usable. The document remains valid for ninety (90) days from the date of the notary’s stamp. If the form needs to be valid for a longer period, a new power of attorney form must be created.
Signing Requirements (§ 30-5-4-1) – This document must be signed by the principal and acknowledged by a notary public (signed and stamped).
