A Rhode Island power of attorney form, known as RI-2848, allows for a person seeking to file their taxes with the Division of Taxation to elect a professional to handle the filing on their behalf. The taxpayer authorizes the representative to collect checks, execute waivers and closing agreements, receive confidential information, and represent them at court reviews and hearings (only possible if the representative is an attorney or other person with such legal capacity). Execution of this power of attorney form revokes previous tax authorization documents unless specified otherwise in this document.

Signing Requirements – Notary public or two qualified witnesses.
