An Alabama advance directive, which includes a medical power of attorney and a living will, which allows a person to handle another’s health care decision-making in the chance the Principal cannot do so for themselves. The living will portion allows the patient to choose how they would like their end-of-life decisions handled without the need of an agent.
A living will only come into effect if the principal is in a position where there is no realistic chance of them being healed or treated. This allows them to terminate their life if they are in a vegetative or incapacitated state.
