An Alabama general power of attorney form allows a resident to handle another person’s monetary affairs only while the person being represented is conscious, in a decent state of mind, and not suffering from any type of mental instability, such as having signs of dementia. It allows the agent selected to handle transactions related to the principal as if he or she is “acting in their shoes” for financial purposes.

Signing Requirements (§ 26A-1A-105) – Must be executed with the principal in the presence of a notary public.
