A Florida living will is a declaration made by an individual (principal) to refuse artificially prolonged care in the event of a terminal condition. Therefore, if a principal becomes in a vegetative state, they can choose to make instructions beforehand to end their life by eliminating feeding and ventilation used to keep them alive.

It is the responsibility of a principal to inform medical staff that they have a living will.
