The Nebraska parental guardianship minor child power of attorney form is a method of delegating parental powers over a minor child to another person (attorney-in-fact). Except for powers such as marriage and adoption consent, the attorney-in-fact is responsible for the care, custody, and property of the child. This allows a parent to appoint a temporary caretaker if they plan to be away from home for an extended or indefinite period of time. This power of attorney form remains in effect for a period not longer than six (6) months, unless the child is at least eighteen (18) years of age. After the six-month period, a new power of attorney form must be created and signed by all involved parties.
