A West Virginia living will is a legal document establishing a patient’s wishes regarding the use of life-prolonging treatments if they are ever terminal or permanently unconscious and unable to communicate medical decisions for themselves. Any “competent” adult can execute a living will at any time. The living will must be in written form.
